Does pointer really matter?

When someone asking this question:

"Is a good pointer(CGPA)  important? Should it really matter when it comes to first class and second class graduates?"

i would find this to be a great reply:

"CGPA is important. I won't lie to you and said that it's not important. But CGPA can only bring you as far as to interview room. After that, it's up to your communication skills and knowledge to convince the interviewer that you're the right person for them to hire."

Credit to bucharestophere for sharing his piece of advice:

Cliche as it may sound, the extra mile was given by God. I performed consistently throughout my academic years, undertook various leadership roles and have honed my communication skills. Also, I'm studying in a reputable overseas, not Oxbridge or Ivy Leagues. There is no secret really, just be really good at what you do, be consistent and outstanding. Undertake internships and initiatives in things that you are passionate about. More importantly, being well read with good exposure to cultures and various interests help as it will shape the way you communicate and the depth of your conversation. Also, I dare say I nailed the interview by really knowing what I'm talking about and being confident with my answers, which really come naturally when you're talking about something you're passionate for. The way you carry yourself is of utmost importance.

So my conclusion for today is : Getting a high paying job is not just about your academic result (can be advantageous),. After all, it boils down to the job that you are pursuing and where you intend to work. And yes, being self confident is an important factor in securing a job, build new skills along the way. =)
