Deactivated for 2 weeks

Well, would be deactivated for 2 weeks time, just because i am going back to Melaka to visit my grandmum.
there will no be any internet connection and i will be declared 'deactivated' for the 2 weeks time.LOL.

Working part time during semester break is not yet an important issue to me , i shall indeed spend more time to care for my grandmum, appreciate the time for being with her now.
Yes, i have worked allt his while at TARC and i don't think it is necessary for me to continue working till my semester start at July. Instead my decision told me that I shall reserve 1-2 weeks time to spend with my grandmum.And that is why i will be going to Melaka tomorrow.
By the time i updated my blog, it shall be another new semester for me XD. Can't wait to meet my fellow friends at UM!^^

2nd Year!

Time flies, after two weeks time, i will be on 2nd year!!can't believe that i have been at UM for 1 year already!^^ and during 2nd year,the subjects that i will be taking would be more onto Biochemistry. Exp are protein(Structure and Function), Metabolism 1( i can't believe i have to study this under 1 subject, gonna carzy with the cyles i guess),quantitaves biochem( More calculate and calculate, shouldn't be a problem for me i guess ), pharmacology(I love this, so i particulary choose this over analytical biochem), Strutural and Biomolecules(I think i should be okay with this),and last but not least, biochemistry Practical(basically all about experiments and unending reports). of course there would be more and more subjects like Enzymes,Biochem Hormones,Nutritional Biochem etc which i am going to take on 4th semester.

Well, what i found biochem to be interesting is it involves life, All things from Plants , Animals,Human, Nutritions to Microorganisms. I believe by studying biochemistry, we could have a much more better understanding on life and how does life functions as well as its molecular functional aspects. I know even Psychologist, Criminolgist, physicians, biologist,chemist, sociologist are now looking into biochemical problem too. So this knwoledge is pretty much important in applying to quite wider range of aspects.

Well, I got to be well prepared to have my mind concentrated on the very 1sy semester of my second year!
Can't wait to meet my friends and to start me whole new senior life at UM^^

Management Trainees Programme

 Well, this is some info about management trainee programme:

Manegement Trainees( MT ) is a great path for fresh graduate degree holder to join in as management level and even have the opportunity to be SAP profession for certain Consultant Company MT Program. MT accepts wide variety of discipline study from business to engineering. Actually, you can find alot of MT notices posted in Jobstreet offered by different companies. Although you join in as management trainee, your salary is indeed pleasant with around rm3k and even more. Somehow, their interviews is kinda strict and small amount will only be absorbed... besides results (Above 3.0 will has higher chance), they are looking for candidates who is able to communicate in fluent english, good personality, co-curicullar activities and it would be great if you have any part-time working experiences.

Investing in Unit Trust

A great piece of advices on investing in unit trust!

If you are looking for UT's which are suitable for you, suggest that you need to know about your risk tolerance first. There are many site which does a free risk profiling for you with questionnaires. Although this is somewhat inaccurate, at least you know where you stand.

After you are sure of your risk profile, then you can plan your holdings, ie. percentage of each fund/sector that you want to hold. Diversification is recommended so you do not lose everything if a fund tanks, especially a high risk funds. For me I am concentrated in Malaysia, Asia Pac ex Japan, a little europe and US with a sum in pure China & commodities. Bond and cash funds provide stability in my holdings.

To gauge which funds have relatively good performance, you may refer to charts available online at lipper or morningstar. For me i do not chase the best performer, rather those with consistent earnings and lose the LEAST during a recession. Preservation of capital is important for me. Read the fund fact sheet and annual reports. Be wary of high initial and annual fees.

For me, unfortunately i do not use DCA, i buy on weakness and sell on strength. DCA will get you on average performance, which if it is suitable for you, then go for it. Switching in UT is an important strategy, however you need to use it sparingly since there are massive charges involved (ie. pay a lot of initial charge). You may switch to rebalanced your portfolio, ie. sell those with high profit and move them to the least profit or to lower/increase your exposure to risks. I am now actively re balancing most of my equity portfolio to bonds on market out performance.

Don't just monitor NAV, you must also include the dividends you receive in calculating profits. You can check the nav at each respective UT site.

Piece of precious advice^^

Advices come in many ways. Advices are often given when you asked a right question.
Even some good advices are best to be analysed first before calling a move for it.

This is what i think when people give you advices.

1.When you doubt a certain question or having a dilemma of making your own decision.
2.When you are totally confused of your current status. Your status today might not be the one you like or fancy. you might be regretting all the way long. Like for instances, A feels that he has not maked a right decision by studying Biotech. He think that there is no room for his interest's advancements and having a bleak prospect if taking biotech. But somehow, he is unable to make any decision just because he gett he course which is not the one he really like. He doesn't have the will to make his decision, he follows what the UPU has given him. In other words, he follow his destiny,his fate. whatever goven to him, he just accepts.

This is kind of pathetic, isn't it? try to imagine a situation when you have lactose intolerance, you are stuck in your house with no waters left available but the only beverages left is milk. You don't have the choice to not taking milk or else you would be dehydrated.
Instead of letting yourself to be dehydrated, it is better to let yourself to have diarhea by taking milk, isn't it?
It is just like the situaution where you have only 2 choices left:
1. Go to the course that u have been granted.or else,
2. Start working.

Option 2 seems impossible for me, since i am all opting for further study. Unable to afford to choose any institutions to further my study in the courses that i want, i have to choose option 1.

Anyone has its own potential, but potential can never be translate into a sure thing.. Potential depends on many aspect including hardwork and luck..

A biochemist can make a lot of money depending on what they do.. The researchers who research something that can translate into profit will make a lot of money.

Let say if you're invented a biofuel that can be use in our modern and old car as a replacement for petroleum based product, you will be rich.. A lot of big corporates want to hire you, and to purchase your research as their rights.

Or if you manage to extract any ingredients from plants/bug/animal that can be used in medicine purpose, you'll gain fame..

Now, back to the prospect.. Lets face it.. Chemist do chemical test in labs.. The purpose might be different, some do research, QC, forensic testing, etc.. And industries need labs but just in minimal numbers, as the result will be used and reproduce for their future reference. Any new findings that leads to maximizing profit or reducing cost will be useful and appreciate. Anything else will be treated as waste of resources..

What industries really needs? Commercials.. That where the money comes from.. They must translate from research >> mass productions >> money.. The major chunk would be commercials (selling/marketing and so on)

Now, our government actually emphasizes in research, however, with limited fund and equipments, thus translates into lack of opportunities.. (unless you're a lecturer in any university that have grant to do some research) That's why I stated earlier, the prospect is quite low here in Malaysia but quite big in other developed countries..

And while those enterprise and industries will need biochemist, they only need them in minimal quantities.. We still got a lot of industries here, but not as much as China..

So, it won't surprise me if science students like us ends up working in totally different field.. We just simply need to adapt and master other knowledge of different field than we learn in universities/colleges..

Don't restrict yourself.. You can plan towards your future (and its best to do so) but you'll never know what will happen about two years from now.. The best thing is to do our best presently and strive for the best in the future..

Trips to Gurney with friends

Before i might start to work at TARC next week(Hopefully i get called for the job ), What a relaxing and joyous day when i manage to invite friends to go for a movie after having not meet for quite some time.

I was rather surprised to meet Huei Deng today. We haven't meet for 2 years actually after SPM.

First thing to congratulate him is that he has become thin! XD

i wonder what the deal has he doing all this while. When asked about the secrets to make his body fit and thin, he just smiles with a reply of eating less.

Anyway, i would like to Congratz you for getting into NTU! I wish you all the best!=)

Well, i always wanted to keep my body fat and fit just because i am quite thin now, i considered myself to be slightly underweight, and so perhaps I shall eats more to complement my high metabolism. Should consider to increase the weight.=p

Besides watching A Team, a highly action movie, we stroll around Gurney Hotel,walk along the 'beach' near Gurney.

Two words to describe: Enjoyable and Fun! ^^
